Correspondence and military records. Many of the letters concern a quarrel arising out of jealousy for the favor of General P.G.T. Beauregard, under whom Jordan was serving as chief of staff. Other letters relate to the commands, discipline, Charleston harbor, defense of the South Carolina Railroad, use of black labor, establishment of telegraph offices, prisoners of war, and other army affairs, as well as post-war reminiscences by Jordan and Beaureguard.
